The Cancun International Airport (CUN) (link to the official website of the Cancun International Airport) is located 16 kilometers from downtown Cancun, on the Yucatan Peninsula. It is close to the Mexican Caribbean coast and is considered as the second most important airport in México after México City International Airport, due to the number of visitors it receives on international flights from the European continent, the Caribbean and North America. Currently operated by the company ASUR, the airport has reached 23 million passengers yearly who travel through its facilities.
Facilities and services at the terminals include restaurants, pharmacy, banks, restrooms, duty-free shops, bars, convenience stores, beauty parlor, business center, food court, video arcade, VIP lounges, tourist information booths, medical services, vending machines, lockers, public phones, car rental agencies, and money exchange stores.
The distances between the terminals are too far to walk, but you can take a taxi or the free shuttle service.
At the Cancun Airport, you can also find different authorized transport companies that offer this type of service. It provided a Van with air-conditioned and a luggage compartment.
Airport shuttle is a good option for its affordable prices, however, is going to take you longer to get to your hotel, as it is a shared service.
This service is available from 8:00 am to 20:00, so you will not be able to take out of this schedule.
Cancun Airport also offers bus service. Taking a bus is the cheapest way to get to your hotel or accommodation.
After you pick up your luggage at the baggage belts, you will find an ADO bus module. You can get your tickets there to downtown Cancun or Playa del Carmen.
If you choose this option, the bus goes directly to the bus station in Playa del Carmen and downtown Cancun. From the station, you must take another transport, a public bus or a taxi to get to your final destination.
Rates for this service are more expensive than other transportation options.
Taxi services don’t charge per person but for distance traveled. Most taxis have a capacity of 4 people and, in some cases, there are vehicles with only 3 passengers.
This service is available from 7 am to 11:30 pm in terminal 2, in terminal 3 the service is available 24 hours a day.
